Cleaning check list to prepare for your initial move out inspection.
Following Move-Out Procedures will aid Tenants in receiving their security deposits back.
IMPORTANT READ THIS
Glisson Inc dba G & R Rentals contracts with Townley Cleaning Service to clean apartments once tenants have moved out. Townley charges by the hour, they work quickly and efficiently to deep clean the apartment.
Glisson Inc dba G & R Rentals covers up to $150.00 in the cleaning of an apartment and any amount over $150.00 is deducted from the Security Deposit along with the Professional Carpet cleaning fee. Carpet fee’s typically range between $60.00 to $120.00, or sometimes more depending on the size of the department and how the cleanliness of the carpets. Invoices for cleaning apartments range from $112.00 to in some cases $700.00. The better you clean, the more of your deposit will be returned.

____ Move out everything from your apartment
Cleaning check list
Kitchen
____ Turn on Self Clean on oven (there will be a slight burning smell)
____ Clean silver drip pans under burners
____ Clean under the stove top (lift it up)
____ Clean burners and stove top
____ Clean the hood and vent inside and out, make sure vent is clean and area around clock and timer on the face of the stove.
____ Wipe out oven and oven racks after self-clean process is complete
____ Pull out the broiler drawer on the bottom of the stove, then Clean under it. Sweep, mop and scrub.
____ Clean dishwasher inside and out.
____ Clear anything out of the bottom of the dishwasher
____ Run and empty cycle with a small amount of bleach
____ Clean refrigerator
____ Remove drawers and shelving clean in sink and wipe the
____ Entire refrigerator and freezer out. Use warm soapy water
Do not use anything with a strong chemical smell.
____ With the refrigerator empty carefully pull out from the wall
____ Clean anything on the floors and walls that have built up under the refrigerator.
____ Vacuum inside all cabinets, wipe downs with damp cloth inside and outside of cabinets.
____ Clear any built-up dirt from inside the light fixture.
____ Wipe down countertops making sure they are very clean.
____ Mop the floor and pay attention to grout lines to make sure they are clean.
Note: You may need to do a general wipe down before the inspection.
Bathrooms
____ Remove shower curtains.
____ Clean the tub and shower surface (a mixture of ½ Dawn Dishwashing liquid and ½ vinegar in a spray bottle is very effective in cleaning hair product and other build up.) Once dry run finger over to check for any build up.
____ Vacuum inside all cabinets, wipe downs with damp cloth inside and outside of cabinets.
____ Clean the sink in the same manner as the shower/tub.
____ Clean in and round the toilet. Use a brush to scrub any stains out.
____ Clear any built-up dirt from inside the light fixture.
____ Clean mirror and light fixture
____ Mop the floor thoroughly.
____ Clean the switch plates and receptacles, with a damp not wet cloth
____ Towel bars cleaned
Bedrooms
____ Vacuum carpet and use a vacuum hose to clean along walls
____ Vacuum closet
____ Vacuum shelves and wipe down with damp cloth
____ Clean windows. Raise the window clean between the screen and window. Wipe all trim around the window. Gently wipe down the blinds.
____ DO NOT PATCH Any Holes in the walls.
____ Gently clean the blades on the ceiling fan and light fixture
____ Clean the switch plates and receptacles with a damp not wet cloth
Laundry area
____ Clean inside and out of washers and dryers.
____ Carefully clean under, behind and beside the appliances by pulling away from the wall, carefully.
____ Clean the floor under and in the entire area.
____ Clear lint filters
____ Vacuum all dust and dirt from shelves and walls.
____ Run an empty wash cycle with HOT water and bleach.
General Cleaning in the Rest of the Unit:
____ Windows and Blinds—Clean all windows and screens throughout the unit, on the inside and outside of each unit. Clean the window frames, screens, edges, ledges, tops and bottoms. Clean all of the blinds throughout the unit.
____ Patio Sliding Door(s)—Clean the complete door thoroughly, inside and out, including the track and blinds and the top of the doorsill.
____ Sweep Patio
____ Closets—Vacuum the closet floors and clean all shelves.
Carpets
____ Vacuum ONLY do not steam or dry clean.
____ DO NOT USE BLEACH TO REMOVE STAINS
Glisson Inc will make arrangements for the carpet to be professionally cleaned, with the charge for the cleaning to be deducted from the security deposit
Walls and Doors—
____ DO NOT PATCH HOLES OF ANY SIZE.
____ DO NOT REMOVE ADHESIVE SUCH AS COMMAND STRIPS
____ DO NOT PAINT THE WALLS
____ Use a Dry Eraser from the cleaning section to remove scuffs from walls
____ Doors, including the front door, should be thoroughly cleaned on both sides, top and bottom, and around the sills.
____ Ceiling Fans—Ceiling fans should be completely cleaned, including the motor housing, blades (top and bottom), and all light fixtures.
____ Furnace and or Air Conditioner Vents and Covers—All vents, air conditioner covers, and air returns should be cleaned and free of dust and/or lint, including ceiling, wall, and floor vents.
____ Fixtures—Fixtures throughout the unit, including light fixtures, smoke detectors, furnace, water heater, and thermostats must be cleaned and free of dust.
Keys and Locks and Parking Stickers
___ Keys turned in
___ Parking stickers from Car windows removed and return
___ Visitor Passes Returned
___ Notify Ameren for stop of service
___ Notify City or Carbondale for stop of Water or Sewer Service
___ Notify South Highway Water District of stop of Service
___ Notify Internet /television Provider of stop of service
